Abundance Prayer - The Prayer of Daniel

Hear oh God my prayers, Look in favor at my pain. Hear and act.  Don't delay for I bear your name. Today when you get an opportunity, turn your attention to a prayer of Daniel - a hero of the Old Testament. If your life was severely disrupted when you were a child, you can sympathize with Daniel.  His young life turned lousy when he was taken into captivity by the Babylonians and dragged away from his homeland. Although he was a captive, through his faithfulness to God, he rose to become the highest-level government official.  Daniel had such a great reputation that he remained in power even when his captors were defeated and the government changed.  Daniel never forgot about wanting to go home. He ultimate manifested (with God) everything he believed God for. The Prophecy Read Daniel 9:1-2 . Let's figure a minute here. If Daniel was taken captive by the Babylonians and he is looking at a 70 year prophecy, about how old is he? (Our lesso

Billie Holiday   Later sang by:  Nina Simone Southern trees bearing strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the popular trees. Pastoral scene of the gallant south, The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth, Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh, Then the sudden smell of burning flesh. My Thoughts About Harriet (The Trailer)

Image
When my daughter told me that a new movie about Harriet Tubman is scheduled to come out in November, I had conflicting thoughts. I have to admit, any other person whose name isn't Cicely Tyson portraying Harriet Tubman, wasn't an easy sell at first.  Yet, I had to immediately let that go.  I have to change with the times. Secondly, like many other folks, I am a bit tired of seeing movies about slavery. More than one, every two or three years or more is quite enough in my opinion.  I agree with those who believe movies depicting slavery are a must.  In order to appreciate where we are, truly kids today need to know about America's history and the strange fruit our country bore.  Along with kids learning about slavery, adults who are somewhat knowledgeable of our painful past must never forget.  But, in all thy getting there must be understanding.  Meaning, while we are viewing our past, we must see and understand not only where we come from but how these movies aid us

In the Beginning

Along with many other organizations and establishments, the first edition of Today's Lady Chaplain, is paying homage to all those extraordinary women who served their communities in the role as "chaplain". During the last 40 years, female chaplains have overcome differences in their pursuit of equality. Therefore, it gives me great honor to accept my call and join the ranks alongside these wonderful spirit filled women ... and men. July 19, 2019 I officially began walking in my call as chaplain. Although the map of who, what, when, where, and how has not been made quite clear to me at this time, I do know that my "why" is truly quite clear. I am a firm believer though, that if I take one step, God will definitely take two. So, in the words of Eddie Kendricks of the Mighty Temptations, I am going to keep on truckin' baby. I'm truly excited to see where this chapter of my life will lead. Oh what fabulousness awaits! W
